Following unconfirmed reports that Samsung will stop selling the flagship NX1 camera[1] in Europe the company has now issued an official statement which partly confirms what was being rumored. Samsung has confirmed in the statement that it’s withdrawing from the camera market in Germany and will no longer be selling its camera products in the country.
The statement mentions that Samsung quickly adapts to market needs and demands, it has seen a gradual and sustained decline in demand for standalone digital cameras, camcorders and related accessories in Germany. “For this reason, we have taken the decision to phase out the sales and marketing of these products.” It does point out in the statement that this is a local decision based on local market conditions, so it doesn’t mean that the same will be done in the rest of Europe or across the globe for that matter.
